Question: I was bleeding for about a month. My doctor prescribed progesterone for 10 days. On the 6th day, I started spotting again, and I have two days left to take it. What could be the other reasons why I am having prolonged bleeding? I am 24 if that helps.

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Greetings
If you are sexually active you need to rule out pregnancy first.
If not, a scan is mandatory to know the endometrial thickness and to rule out PCOD.
Bleeding continuously needs a gynaec check up including scan and hormones.
Most common causes of continuous bleeding at this age could be incomplete abortion or hormonal imbalance.
Feel free to ask your doubt with more details.

I am not sexually active. My doctor did ask and did a pregnancy test anyway, which came back negative. I will go back to my doctor this week or early next week to ask for a scan and hormone check. When you say scan do you mean an ultrasound or is there a specific scan and/or hormone check I should ask for?
