I Was Born With A Long Tailbone And It Has

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Mar 2020
Question: I was born with a long tailbone and it has bothered me all of my life by sticking out a little too far near my rear and poking the skin, which hurt some when I sat down or anything like that. In the past few years, I've started getting it 'readjusted' every once in a while (I haven't been able to get an appointment in a bit). In the past few days, the skin (I think) has become thin where the tailbone hits and it oozes blood and stuff, but there is no exact cut/opening where the blood comes from. This is new and has never happened before, what should I do?

Brief Answer:
Pilonidal cyst possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't believe that the problem you are having may be related to longer tailbone. I think that pain, discomfort, bloody and staff oozing may be related to pilonidal cyst or cocygeal abces.
It is a cyst found in the bottom of tailbone which can get infected. You can send me a photo of it to see it.
You have to go to surgeon to open it and drain.

Hope I have answered the question.
