Question: I was carrying my heavy swing which had a chain on it. When I was lowering it, the swing turned on the chain and I felt a pop in my upper forearm and it began to swell and hurt badly, Went to the ER and no broken bones but I need to know what is wrong. Did I tear or pull a tendon or muscle? When I twist my arm there is pain between my elbow and my upper forearm.

Brief Answer:
Can be a torn muscle.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The pain and swelling in the upper forearm can be due to a torn muscle and a hematoma. This can be related to a sudden muscle spasm also. Since the broken bones have been ruled out, this should heal with proper rest and pain killers. You need to avoid all the painful movements and lifting any weight until it heals properly.

I hope this answers your query.
