Question : Hello, I was diagnosed with HiB within the past 12 hours and was prescribed Augmentin. My 18 month old is exhibiting the same symptoms as me and has had a persistent cough and runny nose since Monday October 23rd.

1. What is her body weight?
2. Any history of drug allergy, eczema or wheezing/asthma?
3. Any fever?
4. Colour of nasal discharge? (watery/ mucoid/ yellow purulent)
5. How the cough sounds- dry or wet(like a lot of phlegm inside) to hear?
6. Is the cough more at night/morning hours, or similar throughout the day?
7. What medications tried so far?

Thank you for the details given

By going through the details, it looks like she is also suffering from the same disease
We will need to give a course of antibiotic

For this, my Prescription would be:

1. Suspension Augmentin (457mg/5ml) 3ml twice daily for 7 days
2. Syrup Levocetirizine (2.5mg/5ml) 3ml at night for 5 days

Along with this, you can continue the cough syrup. Ask for an expectorant ;not cough suppressant

But please note that antibiotics are usually prescribed after a direct consultation, and it may not be available over the counter
