I Was Diagnosed With RA. My Rheumatoid Factor Was Negative

Question: I was diagnosed with RA. My Rheumatoid Factor was negative but CCP antibody test was 111 (positive). So, Dr is basing her diagnosis off of the ccp antibody test. Doctor is recommending Humira as treatment.

I don't have any aches/pains, no morning stiffness, no visible redness in joints.

I just came off of Rotator Cuff Surgery. Was very sedentary for 4 months and did have my knees swell as I was sleeping in a recliner. Took Meloxican and it went away immediately.

I'm hesitant to start treatment on Humira as I haven't had any physical symptoms of arthritis or any aches.

I do have high inflammation in my body and eyes. Eye dr put me on Predisone short term to remove eye inflamation.

So, is the high inflammation in body is enough reason to start Humira?

It seems I'm in early stages trying to research when you know to start a treatment like Humira.

Anyone start treatment when in ealry stages or have ideas on how I make this decision on when to start? I'm not a fan of pharmaceuticals, so I'm struggling with this. Thanks!!

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
hi
eye inflammation may be a severe manifestation of arthritis, which may be the reason that your doctor has prescribed humira.
as you know biologicals are probably the strongest treatment for arthritis and its manifestations.
however we do give medications which are immunomodulators like methotrexate for the same problems.
so these can also be considered.
and depending on whether eye inflammation settles and recurrances are not there the medicine can be continued.
hope that helps
regards
