Question: I was diagnosed with diverticulitis 2 years ago. But, for the past month I’ve gained 8lbs for no reason. No diet changes, my stools are small tiny pieces, diarrhea. This has been going on for a month. I’m 62, and I am in Metformin, although I am not a diabetic. This was used as a dietary aide due to the fact I have no pituitary or adrenal glands . Could I have an infection in ducts causing the weight gain?

Thanks for the referral. Please let me know more detailed history about why you don't have pituitary or adrenal glands. Have you underwent any surgery? Please also check recent blood values of serum cortisol,sugar level,calcium level,serum electrolyte level. Gaining weight of 8 kg is not normal in 1 month. You need a thorough check up under Endocrinologist and please let me know about the results. Get well soon.
