I Was Diagnosed With Stage 3 Kidney Cancer In September
Question: I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer in September 2019. Had my kidney and adrenal gland removed. Three months later I had a lung resection due to possible metastasis. Results were negative.
March 2020 and July 2020 showed no new problems. CT done in January 2021 showed “prominent hilar lymph node measuring 13 x 9, definitely not seen on previous CT scan”
I have an appointment with my oncologist in two weeks but I can’t stop worrying as I don’t have an more info.
Current symptoms include nerve pain from surgeries, heavy night sweats from my head, labored breathing from slight excercise like making my bed.
I am quite concerned but the waiting for info is the worst part of it. Can anyone give me some advice as to what to expect?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
By itself it's not much significant
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
This hilar node is quite small and doesn't raise alarm. But it's bit prominent and will need follow up.
More often than not, this is just reactive and not malignant. Hopefully, on follow up scans it would reduce or remain the same. If it increases, or new lesions are seen then biopsy will be required.
This node can't explain your symptoms, provided rest of the body is clear on scan. Maybe those are due to previous surgeries.
Hope this helps.
