Question: I was diagnosed years ago with a baker cyst. Nothing was done pretty much was told to live with it. after many years the pain is now becoming unbearable. Is there any treatment for this? If so what can be done to treat my long standing condition. Will a knee replacement correct this my othepedist suggested it would.

Brief Answer:
Yes, Surgery is recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Baker's cyst, if it is causing pain or limitation of movement, needs to be removed by surgery, If it was not done in the past, it should be done now.Knee replacement would correct baker's cyst also-but, then it indicates that the pain is not primarily due to cyst but knee osteoarthritis. In my opinion, you should go for the surgery at the earliest.
Thanks.
