I Was Doing Bowel Prep For Colonoscopy In Morning

Hi was doing bowel prep for colonoscopy in morning. After drinking Metamucil several hours (2 1/2) I re-read directions that it is Miralax I am to be using. I canceled the procedure.
I feel very very full and kind of dizzy/ light headed. Drinking some water plus it’s starting to work. Is there any danger from taking so much? It’s very thick when drinking it. Was on clear liquid diet all day. I’m worried. Please advise. Thank you.

Probably side effects of the laxative

Hello,

Metamucil and Miralax are both laxatives, which can be used before a colonoscopy procedure.
Your symptoms can be related to side effects of these medications.
Some of the side effects of the medication can be diarrhea, dizziness and cramps.
I recommend to use an electrolyte solution such as Pedialyte solution.
I also recommend to avoid the liquid diet based in the fact that you cancelled the procedure.
