I Was Exposed To Extremely Loud Noise While Having A

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Jun 2019
Question: I was exposed to extremely loud noise while having a dental procedure last week. It seems the vibration/noise transmitted through the bone to my inner ears. Now I have physical pain in my ears and my tinnitus is off the charts loud. I just saw my PCP. I asked for a referral to a specialist but he said it wasn't necessary. He said there was nothing that could be done except taking a steroid for inflammation in the inner ear. He prescribed that. Is he correct? Is there nothing more specialist could do?

Brief Answer:
Hii. It seems that you are having noise induced hearing loss. I don't know

Detailed Answer:
Hii. It seems that you are having noise induced hearing loss. I don't know whether you have consulted an Ent surgeon or not. Please visit an Ent specialist and do a full examination of the ear. Please do a hearing test also. If the ear drum is normal and the hearing shows nerve weakness then avoid further loud exposure of sound. In that case steroid injection through ear drum is only option. Hearing may improve spontaneously but it depends on your inner ear. If the ear drum has perforation due to loud sound and the hearing shows no nerve weakness then don't do anything. Give time to ear drum to heal by own. Please review if you have any queries.
Note: Consult an experienced Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist online for further follow up on ear, nose, and throat issues - Book a Call now.
