Question: I was given albuterol inhaler in september when I had bronchitis. since then I had bronchitis like symptoms flare up for about a week in novemver and december. the only thing that helped me was my inhaler. now I feel a lot better but when I do cardio my lungs tighten up making it very difficult to breath without the inhaler and I also work at a casino so some nights the smoke is so bad that I feel my lungs tighten up. my inhaler is out and I really feel like im going to be restricted without it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in Ask the Doctor

I can understand your concern

As you explain the situation it seems that your lungs need inhaler for a longer time because of their hypersensitivity due to several factors such as exercise and smoking dust .

If I was your doctor I will prescribe an inhaler with a long effect such as Seretide 250 mcg twice for three months and after I will re-evaluate your situation again with a spirometry test to decide what to do further.

Please discuss with your doctor for the above

Hope to have been helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Medical ethics as well as the laws of the state doesn't allow me to give you prescription. If you were my patients I would suggest
Seretide 250/50 mcg

D.t.d N=1 disc

S. 2 X 1 puffs / d inhaler

However you should consult your doctor first because he or she knows better your actual clinical picture. You may discuss about this inhaler with the doctor and he/she will be able to provide a prescription.
