I Was Just Diagnos With Non Dysplasia Berrent Esophagus .

Question: I was just diagnos with non dysplasia Berrent Esophagus. Doctor prescribe Pantoprazole Sod DR40 mg tab for non dysplasia Berrent's Esophagus - 1 per day. Been taking it for a week and appears causing constipation. Should I get a OTC med to combat this. Im seeing the doctor next Thursday

A laxative seems like a good idea. In that regard, I would recommend 2 tablets of magnesia and movicole per day. Milk or plenty of water is also a good idea.

I did take a laxative and hours later some came out - black stool. Followed with a smaller amount but was dark brown stool. I am awaiting my doctor's orders to see what is next step. I like to continue with the Pantoprazole Sod DR40 mg tab to see if it dissolves the Barrent.

Hello Dr. Christensen,

Thanks again for your reply - I'm starting to now relax a little bit on hearing about Barrent'
on me and its not a death sentence. My doctor contacted me , talked about 40-minutes, and settled me down quite a bit. Told me to talk MetaMucil to help with constipation.

I know everyone is different but how long can one take Pantoprazole - I read that 3-yrs. is the most. Is they another drug that he would possible put me on or at a lower dose.

There really is no time limit, as long as the indication for treatment stille is there. You can always try a lower dose while keeping your Barretts under surveillance.

Hello Dr. Christenson,

Thanks for your advise. I truly value your expertise in helping me deal with this. Im very heathy and it has taken a toll on me mentally.

I did a consultation with my doctor today and he mentioned that my Berrents was 10cm long. He mentioned that I should not worry but should feel quite lucky because I caught it early with non dysplasia and if something happens it can be taken care of through ablation. The drug he gave me is a good one that will keep reflux nell. I just need to get my mental state in balanced again.

I finally had a good night sleep after talking with doctor. As mentioned before, I just need to get my mental state in balanced. You have helped me so much and now its time for me to get more positive knowing that its not the end of the world.

I will keep you informed of my progress and hope to talk with you again in the months ahead. I have joined a gym club, changed some sleeping and eating habits, and starting to get more positive. I'm planning to retire in May and hope to enjoy many years of retirement.

Yes indeed, I will keep you informed of my progress. I need to go back to my GI doctor in 6-months to see how I am doing with another endoscope in 3-yrs. Hopefully everything is the same or maybe improve.
