Brief Answer:
possible urinary retention, follow the advice, observe how you stay afterward...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query in details...
I can understand your concern...

It's a very commonly seen scenario after such a surgical procedure.

Just follow the advice and observe the progress:

-First of all, relax, take a few deep breaths, walk gently around for 5 min, open the tap at the washroom, and try to urinate. Don't force if urine's not coming out spontaneously.

-If you take a medication like Flomax (for your prostate), now is the time to take it, (unless your doctor has instructed you not to)...

-Apply some hot water bag(not extremely hot) and cold compression gently over the bladder region (below the umbilicus, supra-pubic region)...

With all these, you should be able to pass urine. However, if you don't, then just visit the nearest ER for a re-catheterization.

Another option is Self-catheterization if you can't go to the ER immediately. In that scenario, just buy a soft Infant-feeding tube (small sized 6/7/8French) and lignocaine(2%) jelly. Wash your hand with antibacterial hand-wash and put some of the jelly inside the urethral orifice first. Then take out the infant feeding tube, hold the penis firmly and pass it inside fully as long as you don't feel any resistance. Urine should come out. Hold the tube firmly till complete urine gets out. Take out it out and wash the tube thereafter, as well as your hands thoroughly.

However, if you're doing it for the first time, better to call up any paramedics (eg. Nursing stuff), who'll perform the same and also teach you for future purposes.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take Care
Kind Regards
