I Was Wondering If This Bump Is A Genital Wart
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I was wondering if this bump is a genital wart. I noticed it had appeared quite suddenly on the outer vaginal lip. It showed just a couple of days after I shaved and on the same day I participated in vigorous exercise in tight leggings. In the last day or so it seems to have gone down in size and swelling. I HAVE pulled a hair or two from it, and it is painful. Because of the hair and pain, I feel that it is an ingrown hair, but want to be sure. I have been using hot compresses and triple antibiotic ointment which seems to help.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely a wart.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through the attached picture.
It is unlikely a genital wart and more likely seems an ingrown hair or minor injuries while shaving.
As of now you can apply over the counter available topical antibiotics like mupirocin or neosporine after cleaning with soap and water.
In most cases it will settle in few days.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks

Hi, I felt like I should add that the bump is raised.
Additionally, could this be something else? Like herpes? Alongside this question I want to add that I did have unprotected sex 3 months ago. Like I said there is only one raised bump and the diameter is probably slightly less than a pencil eraser.
There is a lot of friction in the area it is on so I am trying to consider all possibilities.
You mentioned that it should clear up in a few days, but I have had it for 7 days. Admittedly, I have picked at it. Could this be part of the reason for the delay in healing?
When would you recommend I make an appointment with a doctor in person?

Brief Answer:
Doesn’t look like herpes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is not herpes.
It looks red and inflamed may be because you have picked it.
As of now do nothing and wait for few more days.
It is unlikely related to sexual contact.
You can continue antibiotics.
Thanks
