The red mucus is due to the presence of blood...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
1. The red mucus is due to the presence of blood, following the rupture of tiny capillaries while blowing the nose or repeated hawking. Do not worry! It is normal to notice tiny specks of blood during an episode of acute infection.
2. You seem to be on the right track. Continue taking the recommended antibiotics.
3. Home remedies and lifestyle modifications such as
a. Steam inhalation
b. Drinking frequent sips of warm water
c. Avoiding coffee/chilled food and beverages/smoking can help you to recover faster.
4. Use over the counter medicine such as normal saline nasal spray as frequent as possible to clear the mucus and reduce any bleeding.
5. A mucolytic such as Bromhexine or Ambroxol would help in reducing the mucus secretions.
Hope with these measures you should be alright. revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.

Nothing to worry! This is common during acute infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
I have examined the image you have posted and I am of the opinion that the blood-tinged sputum is common during the attacks of an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection or Sinusitis. This is basically due to the presence of congestion in the nasal mucosa causing rupture of the minute capillaries.
Saline nasal spray can help reduce nasal congestion and prevent nasal bleed.
Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you good health.

Avoid blowing the nose forcefully...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
As I mentioned earlier forceful blowing of the nose could have damaged the capillaries in the nasal mucosa, thus causing stains in the mucus. Henceforth, avoid forceful clearing of the nose.
