Question: I woke up this morning with stomach cramps and had a terrible stomach ache and diarrhea. It's continued over the past 7 hours and is accompanied by nausea. I don't appear to have any fever.

Hi and thanks so much for this query.

This is acute diarrhea. For now, I encourage only increased fluids intake. Pepto-bismol and tums are just fine. This is probably related to contaminated food or secondary to food intolerance. With no fever or blood in stools, increased fluids is main intervention at this time. Should you develop fever, severe pain or have bloody stools, please let me know.
