Brief Answer:
May be due to nerve compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be due to nerve compression.

Please let me know do you have a history of injury or sprain, backache, joint pain?

To confirm diagnosis I would suggest you do MRI lumbar spine, nerve conduction studies, Vitamin B12 level after detailed medical examination and spine surgeon consultation.

Till then you continue with the tab. Tylenol. Apply Diclofenac gel and heating pads. Avoid forward bending, squatting position.

You may require tablet Pregabalin after consulting your physician. Restrict your movements for the time being.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

I haven’t had any sprains nor joint pain nor really any issues with my legs until I was woken up in pain this morning. At times when the pain hits and if I’m walking at that time, my leg gets very weak and I feel as if it will collapse under me but it hasn’t. Just the sharp pains with numbness.

How long does it normally take for the pain of nerve compression to finally stop? It feels like it’s getting worse. It’s to the point I can’t sleep. Is there anything I can do to help lessen the pain. Tylenol isn’t working nor did a sleeping pill help me sleep. Please help.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Instead of Tylenol, you can take tab. Motrin (Ibuprofen) 400 mg. It should be available over the counter. Apply diclofenac ointment locally. Heating pads can also good comfort.

Severity can be judged only after MRI is done. So kindly get it done as soon as possible. Take care.

Let me know I can assist you further...
