Brief Answer:
Your family member can spread the virus to others during the 48 hours prior to symptom onset, peaked 0.7 days before symptom onset, and declined within seven days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question Dianacpearson.
Hope I can be of help for you today.

Through reading your query I would like to help you with this question. The virus that causes COVID 19 mainly spreads from person to person. This usually happens when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks near other people. The virus can be passed easily between people who live together. But it can also spread at gatherings where we are talking close together, shaking hands, hugging, sharing food, or even singing together.

It is also possible to get sick if you touch a surface that has the virus on it and then touches your mouth, nose or eyes. Your family member can spread the virus to others during the 48 hours prior to symptom onset, peaked 0.7 days before symptom onset, and declined within seven days.

A person can be infected, and spread the virus to others, even without having any symptoms. Keeping people away from each other is one of the best ways to control the spreads of the virus. Because the virus can spread easily through close contact, and it's not always possible to know who is infected. If you think you were in close contact with an infected person, but you don't have any symptoms, you should self-quarantine at home for at least 14 days. This means staying at home as much as possible and staying at least 2 meters away from other people. You should also monitor yourself for any symptoms. If you do start to have symptoms, call your doctor right away.

I hope that can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or questions about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further.

Wish you good health.
