Brief Answer:
May be thrush

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. I did not see a picture, but a common cause of white plaques in the mouth, especially with antibiotic use, would be thrush, which is a fungal infection in the mouth. The treatment is with antifungal medications, usually nystatin swish and swallow, or with fluconazole pills, both of which are prescription medications. The thrush may also improve once you have finished the antibiotics.

If you would like to send a picture, that may help confirm the diagnosis. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help any way I can.

Brief Answer:
Probably thrush

Detailed Answer:
While it does not have the classic appearance, I would still suspect thrush as the most likely diagnosis. The other possibility is leukoplakia, which is a benign lesion, but should be followed closely, possibly with biopsies. However, there is nothing urgent that needs to be done, and you could see if it goes away once you stop the antibiotics, or you could see your doctor about treating for thrush. Only if it didn't go away with treatment, would I consider a biopsy to confirm whether it is leukoplakia or something else.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help any way I can.
