? LATEX ALLERGY
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.
It is a strong possibility that you have a latex allergy due to condom.
It usually presents as a a localized reaction i.e.symptoms appear only in places of direct contact between condom and the skin.
There might be itching, redness, bumps, hives or local rash.
With the use of condom as barrier,it is very unlikely that you have contracted an infection
There is no treatment for a latex allergy so the best remedy is avoidance.
Monogamy is strongly advised.
Now a days polyurethane condoms are available which can be used by you.
You may take antihistamines like levocetrizine ,once at bed time (for 3 days) to treat your symptoms.
Don't use soap over the rash.
It would subside very soon.
If the symptoms persist, consult your clinician for further evaluation and management.
Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
