Brief Answer:
Regarding herpes

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and noted your concern.

The point that if it is a recent infection or an old means depends whether this value is for gG or IgM against hsv type 1. IgM is for recently acquired infection whereas IgG is for old infections.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

This was for iGG. Also is this herpe in the form of cold sores? Again if I am tested in a year from now will my test levels still read 3.76 or will they go down?

Detailed Answer:
hi.

Hsv type 1 commonly causes cold sores. IgG indicates an old infection. The index value may fluctuate in subsequent tests but it would always stay positive.

take care
