If One Has Uterine Cancer Or Another Reproductive Related Cancer,

Question: If one has uterine cancer or another reproductive related cancer, would the irregular bleeding come snd go? I had 6 months of normal cycles in between the irregular (extra bleeding). I am 50 so at the perimenopause stage. I had a pap that was normal in December. I had a transvaginal ultrasound last April. I was under a lot of stress each time with the irregular cycles also. Thank you. I have attached the TVUS report.

Hi,
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
The irregular bleeding is not normal. You may be having endometrial polyp. That may be causing the irregular bleeding. Please consult your gynecologist and get hysteroscopy and biopsy done.
If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.

Hi
This sort of bleeding is not typical of peri menopause. In peri menopause the cycles occur at longer intervals and the bleeding is scanty.
Yes, the report does not say polyp. Sometimes the polyp may not be clearly seen. It could also be overgrowth of endometrium.

Wouldn’t the overgrowth show on the tvus? Thanks.

The gynecologist I saw said it can be common in perimenopause to have more bleeding and spotting until it is scant. Do you ever see cases where the cause is hormonal imbalances and not pathological? Thank you.

Hi
Because of the overgrowth only endometrial thickness is increased.
I have already written above what is the normal peri menopausal bleeding.
Ofcourse I do see in my practice where such irregular bleeding is due to hormonal imbalance. But it is important to exclude any abnormality.
