If The Citrobacter In My Bloodstream Was Killed By Antibiotics,
Question: If the citrobacter in my bloodstream was killed by antibiotics, what are the chances it will happen again?
Brief Answer:
Chances are practically nil
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
So if you had a blood stream infection with citrobacter and you underwent a complete course of antibiotics of 7 to 10 days, then it should not recur again. Best way to check the adequacy of treatment is to have a repeat culture of blood after completion of antibiotics.
Also as you are continuing with oral levofloxacin, it wont come again.
Thanks and regards

Thank you for your answer. My immune system is really low, and I have been hospitalized 4 times since my Whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer in April, 2019. I had only 3 chemotherapy treatments and none since July. I need to know how to strengthen my immunity. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'm scared.
