If Urine Sample Was Sent To Hospital For Tests Following Possible Water Infection Will It Show Hsv2 In The Lab Tests?

Please see the detailed answer below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. Herpes simplex virus 2 can be detected from a urine sample. If you have herpes in the genital area, then the virus will normally shed in your urine. By using PCR technology, herpes simplex virus 2 can be detected from that urine sample.
Test for herpes are usually done only for sores in the genital area. The test may also be done using other types of samples like spinal fluid, blood, urine or tears. To see whether sores are caused by HSV 2, different types of tests may be done like Herpes viral culture.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,
Thank you for joining again. I have already mentioned that by using PCR technology, it is possible to detect Herpes Simplex virus from a urine sample. But it is not routinely done always if there is no request to do so. So, don't be worried at all. If your sending urine sample was requested to detect HSV 2 by using PCR technology, only then it will be tested to detect HSV 2. Otherwise, they will never try to detect HSV 2 from your urine sample by using PCR technology without requesting to do so.
If you want to cancel your urine test, then it will be better for you to contact the specific laboratory where the sample has been sent. The authorized person of that laboratory can help you in this regards, because every laboratory has its specific rules and regulations. Again, your urine test has already been done by this period as one day is being over, it may be possible too.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,
Thank you again for joining. Usually, we want to see from a urine test such as pH for detecting kidney stones, urinary tract infections or other conditions, protein for assessing kidney functions, glucose for detecting diabetes, white blood cells for searching infections or inflammations, nitrites for infections with certain kinds of bacteria, bilirubin for assessing liver functions, blood in urine for detecting infections or illness etc.
For sexually transmitted diseases, urine testing is primarily used for only chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Trichomoniasis also can be detected from urine sample, but it is rarely done.
So, from the above discussion, it is obvious that HSV 2 is not usually detected from a urine sample. It is only done when it was requested by a physician or at least by a patient. By using PCR technology, HSV 2 can be detected from a urine sample but the entire process can take 24 hours or even days and running the PCR machine is very expensive and labs generally test large batches at once to reduce the costs.
So, I am very sure that they will never detect HSV 2 from your sample by using PCR technology for only one test.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

So do you think it will show in their tests
Please see the detailed answer below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for joining again. It will depend on them. If the urine sample was requested to do culture test, then they can do. Again, if there is no findings in your urine R/M/E, then they can do urine for culture and sensitivity test for further evaluation.
But, they will not try to detect HSV 2 from your urine sample by using PCR technology. So, don't be worried at all. HSV 2 will be not detected from the urine sample because PCR technology will be not used for your urine sample.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for joining again. Urine testing is currently primarily used to detect bacterial STDs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea that tests are widely available. Such type of test is done by bacterial DNA testing method. These types of testing are sensitive to even very small amounts of bacterial DNA. They don't require a live bacterial sample like urethral or prostatic swab. They can be run on urine sample.
Before you are given any urine test, it is good to talk to your doctor about what STDs or routine investigation you are going to be tested for. Finally, you should ask how long the results will take to come back and whether the doctor's office will call you if the results are negative. Some offices only call for positive test results.
If your doctor has advised to check STDs from your urine sample, then only the laboratory will try to detect STDs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea by using bacterial DNA testing method which is quite possible from any person's urine sample. But, they will never try to detect HSV 2 by using PCR method from your urine sample. Again, if your doctor hasn't advised to detect STDs from your urine sample, the laboratory will never try to detect STDs.
And most importantly, STDs can be detected from any urine sample by bacterial DNA testing method within 90 minutes. In your case, 2-3 days has already gone. Your test results should be done by this time frame. Most probably you are negative or you are free from any STDs, for that reason the doctor's office hasn't yet informed you.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you too for joining here. If they were not requested to do urine culture, then they will never do the culture test and will not find anything.
A urine culture is a test that can detect the presence of any bacteria in the urine. This test can identify the culprit bacteria that is responsible for anyone's urinary tract infections or bladder infection if he or she has been suffering from any type of infections of that particular area. It can also guide which antibiotics will best treat the pre existing infections.
If they don't do your urine culture test, they can detect nothing. Even, they can find nothing if you have no urinary tract or bladder infections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

But im guessing culture test would be the standard test to do after noting showed on the dip stick test would I be right in thinking that?
Please see the detailed answer below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for joining again. Yes, you are right. Usually, culture test is done if dip stick test shows nothing. So, firstly dip test, if needed then go for culture. But, after assessing the patient and hearing his or her history, if doctor thinks it is essential to advise both dip stick and culture together for confirming the diagnosis, then the doctor can advise both.
Otherwise, firstly dip test is advised. If nothing is found, the culture will be advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
