I'm 21 Years Old With Chronic Allergies That's Treated Fairly

Question: I'm 21 years old with chronic allergies that's treated fairly well via daily doses of over the counter antihistamines, I haven't had any of my usual symptoms like runny nose and sneezing and puffy red eyes in a few years unless I forget to take it. However, I've noticed a chronic feeling of thick post nasal drip even when all my other symptoms are gone. It occasionally gets to the point where I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I'm choking and can't breathe, until I manage to sit up and either swallow enough times to make it stop or grab a drink if there's one close by. Is this something I should be worried about?

Excessive post nasal drip is also a symptom of nasal allergies.
