Question: Im 26 year old male, no history of liver issues (family or self). im 5"10, 205lbs. yesterday a small pain in my right side started. The pain was not immobilizing just uncomfortable. The pain is still here today but it is only apparent when taking deep breaths or twisting and bending over. If I inhale from the diaphragm and expand my stomach and sides, i feel the discomfort. The area of discomfort is the right side of my abdomen near obliques sometimes felt in right abdominal quadrant. Pain resembles that of torn muscles but area isnt sore to the touch. i have no nausea, vomiting, fever, accompanying pains, yellowing of eyes and skin, or fatigue. i was able to sleep normally also. The area is not painful when pressure is applied only when breathing or moving. Also note, when discomfort started yesterday i may have irritated it by vigorously and constantly rubbing, tapping and massaging the mentioned area.

Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain in the Right side of the Abdomen can be due to many reasons.
If it is present in the Right upper quadrant,it can be due to Gallbladder stones,Liver problem etc.
If it is in the lower part of the Abdomen on Right side,it can be due to Appendicitis, Right sided Ureteric stone etc
Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue.
If the investigation is normal, then it could be due to Musculoskeletal cause.Skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocolchicoside will help.
Nothing to worry.

i know its not my appendix. would gallbladder or liver pain worsen with movement? im trying to narrow it down as much as possible, as doctors visits are kind of costly for me. Could you possibly describe the pain for both to help me differentiate before deciding if a doctors visit is absolutely necessary?

Brief Answer:
They have pain in relation to Respiratory movements

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain due to Gallbladder stones will be colicky in nature. It will not be continuous. If pain is elicited during expiration after deep palpation of the area,it could be due to Gallbladder pathology.
If the pain is continuous,it could be due to liver issue.
But,every patient will not present similarly.
Only investigations will give a clue.
You can try with painkiller tablet and see the response
Hope I answered your question.
