I’m 29 Years Old And Have Always Had A Pretty

Question: I’m 29 years old and have always had a pretty active digestive system and always going to bathroom consistently and routinely. Around twice a day. Recently In early XXXXXXX I ate a really rare steak that was definitely cool/ chilled in the middle, the following stool that I passed was diarrhea and loose. I continued to have some loose stools and some normal stools the next few weeks but didn’t change anything with my diet. And I wasn’t experiencing any pain or anything else. Then In early July I went on a cool/rare steak eating binge one night. And ever since then my stool has been really soft and some diarrhea, and I’ve had to consistently go three times a day. And every time I eat red meat the effects seem to be intensified. I will say I used to drink a lot of coffee back in XXXXXXX and would drink energy drinks as well. Basically I’m curious to know what your thoughts on what my issue could be. I have no pain anywhere, don’t feel any other effects other than some loose stools and diarrhea. I’ve looked up IBS, colitis etc. I’ve never had a good diet. I’m not sure if everything caught up to me or What have you. But everything started with that rare steak back in early XXXXXXX Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Probably an intolerance to steak.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to an intolerance to steak.
I suggest to do some examinations for further evaluation.
I recommend to do a stool test to exclude other possible infections that can cause diarrhea after eating steak such as E.Coli or Salmonella.
I also suggest to do a food intolerance test to confirm if you are intolerant to red meat.
Meanwhile, I suggest to avoid red meat for a while.
You can substitute it with fish, turkey, or chicken.
I also suggest to take daily probiotics to help restore the bacterial intestinal flora.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!

Thank you for your response. However, I have very regularly eaten red meat throughout my life, around twice a week. Is it possible I could have developed an intolerance? Also, if by chance my issue was salmonella or E-coli would it have cleared up by now? Also, if my condition was more serious wouldn't I experience more effects than just loose stool and some diarrhea? Im curious because a lot of these conditions I've researched have much more intense symptoms. Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
Meat intolerance can develop any period of life.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

It is true that infections such as Salmonella or E.coli can cause more serious symptoms.
Anyway, these infections should be excluded in case of loose stools and diarrhea.
As per the first question, meat intolerance can develop at any time if the life.
This condition can cause loose stool and diarrhea and should be evaluated through the food intolerance tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
