I'm 65 And Male And Have Developed A Mild (bearable)

default
Posted on Sat, 9 May 2020
Question: I'm 65 and male and have developed a mild (bearable) case of what I assume is pruritis; it began around the anus (and is not always there) and has now spread to a few red rashes several inches across, on my upper legs. Moisturizing cream daily helps, but it has not been super itchy.
I want to know if this is a contagious condition, say in a hot tub. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Seems like eczema.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I see the photo of the rash you attached and I believe it can be eczema or atopic dermatitis. The skin is red with white flakes over.
It is not contagious and can't be transmitted in hot tube.
I think you can use corticosteroid cream such hydrocortisone cream 1% . You can ask for it in pharmacy because it can be taken without prescription. Apply it two times daily .

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
