I’m A 44 Male And 15 Days Ago I Was

Question: I’m a 44 male and 15 days ago I was walking to my kitchen when I felt a sudden onset of pain which I can best describe as throwing my back out. The pain was in my lower left back. It didn’t last long and I iced the area immediately. For a few days it was very uncomfortable to sit and it then became a constant dull pain. I place heating pads on it during the day and it seems to help very much. My concern is is this related to a kidney issue? Would a kidney issue start immediately like that? I’m actually writing this as I lay in bed and just put ice on the area because it was hurting.

Brief Answer:
Kidney stones possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

The lower back pain you are having may be related to kidney stones.
The sudden onset of back pain is much common in kidney stones.
Also another possibility is spinal issues.
I can advice you to do an urine analysis and an ultrasound of urinary tract to check for possible kidney stones.
Putting heating pad can help relieve the pain from kidney stones.
Also you can use ibuprofen or other painkillers you may have at home.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
