Question: I'm a 57 year old female, and i have been experiencing lower right abdomen pain for months now. sometimes so severe that it wakes me up in the middle of the night. I've gone to the doctor, insisted on tests, had internal ultra sound and they found nothing. but i can feel something abnormal in my stomachs. lately. it's consistent pain. I've gotten used to it, unless it's an intense pain during the night. the ability to get into the doctor's office has become so difficult because of Covid, I'm feeling ignored. my other symptoms are: fatigue, loss of appetite. but gaining weight. diarrhea and then constipated the next day.

Brief Answer:
Take basic treatment for 3 days and investigations if needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Since Ultrasound is normal there is something that ultrasound can not pick up.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Take second opinion of another Doctor or still better get referred to a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist.
Take anti-spasmodic as and when needed.
Stool tests for 3 consecutive days. This helps a lot in diagnosis of any intestinal infection or infestation which causes pain in abdomen for such a long time.
CT scan of abdomen and Colonoscopy may be necessary if the medicines courses do not help you.
Colonoscopy as you have symptoms of alternating diarrhea and constipation.
Blood tests: particularly CEA
Please give feedback"
Which medicines were given to you till now?
Any other investigations of stool, urine or blood?
Any other additional information please

Dr T Chandrakant.
General Surgeon.
