I'm Now 8 Days Late On My Period And My

Question: I'm now 8 days late on my period and my periods are always on time like clockwork. I keep track of them on a calander app every month to make sure I stay regular. My husband and I had a "accident" sometime after May 15th (I'm not sure the exact date) but i do remember i was suprised early that day because I was ovulating later than my calendar app said I would...I had egg white discharge. I didnt think much about it till i looked at my app and noticed i was 3 days late on period. I took a preg test and it was negative, I still hadnt started by 5 days late so i took another test it to was negative. Today I'm 8 days late on my period and i took yet another test and it was negative. I noticed it says sometimes HCG doesnt show up in your urine until 10 days after your missed period? Is this true? Could I be pregnant?

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) I dont think this is pregnancy. Pregnancy test generally shows up within a week of missed periods. 10 days only if you have delayed cycles of 32 days or more.

2) Get serum beta hCG blood test done to be doubly sure about pregnancy. This is earliest and most sensitive test to confirm pregnancy.

3) Delayed periods are possible in some cycles due to anxiety, pressure related to work , academics etc..

4) You can wait for periods to resume. If you wish to confirm pregnancy, please get serum beta hCG blood test done.
