I'm Thinking About Using One Of Those At Home Laser

Question: I'm thinking about using one of those at home laser tattoo removal pens (something like this: https://neatcellofficial.com/). Are they safe? Do they actually work? What are the downsides and risks?
Brief Answer:
They are safe, use red one.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my advice.
I think the laser pen for skin treatment are safe when used as advised in the leaflet.
Make sure to use them properly and don't point to eyes. Also use eye protection while used them.
They can cause redness, swelling, scaring if used not safely.
The are known to give good results removing tattoo and scars.
Red light can be used at home and is less effective than blue one. Blue light is better used in saloon or another person helping you.
You can use red light pen to remove tattoo. It is more safe.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for that Doctor Xhufka! Couple of quick follow up questions:
What exactly would happen if you pointed it at your eyes? Would it cause temporary / permanent blindness?
You mentioned the red light is better than blue light. Any particular reason why this is the case? Is blue light more powerful and requires a specialist?
One last question, any idea how long it would take (how many times would I have to apply the laser) to completely remove a tattoo? 4 - 6?

Brief Answer:
It can cause permanent retinal damage.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
If you point it to your eye it can damage the cornea the upper lining of eye.
Also flash blindness can happen and retinal permanent damage.
The blue light is mainly used by specialist and requires eye protection from light.
The numbr of times you need to apply it depends on the intensity of colours used to do it, the dimensions of it etc.
It can varies also by the intensity of laser wave used.
Best regards.
