Question: In the last week I’ve only had 2 nights of full sleep. Last week I woke up around 1am with anxiety and panic, I felt as if I couldn’t breathe. I was up for hours trying to calm myself down and finally did about 5 hours later. Now I’m waking up between 1am-3am with anxiety and panic with the feeling of poor blood circulation (mostly in my right leg). Other symptoms are nausea (sometimes) and the urge to do something active. I can sometimes talk myself back to sleep for a couple hours or use certain breathing techniques help. I have changed my diet this week to eating healthier, drinking more water and exercising before bed. Before bed I also take vitafusion men’s multi vitamin and vitafusion fiber well. Last week around the time all of this started, I was taking also vitafusion b12 1000mcg in the daytime. What’s wrong? Is it anything I can do to stop this?

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms seem to be related to anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to anxiety disorder.

Anxiety can cause difficulty in sleeping, nausea and also the urge to be active.

I recommend to use benzodiazepines, such as Diazepam for short term use to help you with the sleep and also anxiety.

If the symptoms continue I recommend prescription medication such as Citalopram.

This medication is very effective in treating anxiety and is used in the long term.

I recommend to continue using the multivitamins and especially vitamin B12.

I also recommend a healthy lifestyle, to eat healthy and exercise regularly.

Hope I have answered the question.

Thank you. I don't have a doctor to go to. How do I get this medicine? Is it something like this over the counter. I need relief!

Brief Answer:
Suggestions for over the counter treatment is explained below in details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

The medications that I recommended are both prescription medications.

The alternatives that you can find over the counter are natural alternatives.

I may recommend Valeriana, Passiflora and chamomile.

You can find over the counter supplements that contain these herbal medicines.

If they are not effective you can consult your doctor for the prescription medications as recommended above.

Hope it helps,

Feel free to contact me again for further clarifications.

Take care,
