Is 10,000 IU Per Day Of Vitamin D3 Supplement A Safe Dosage?
Question: I have been taking 10,000D3 daily. Is this to much? I heard a Dr. on a radio program saying it can cause a problem with memory if this much is taken. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
it depends on the cause....
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
whether it's too much or too low (!) depends on the underlying cause. For example the typical dosage for a patient with hypoparathyroidism is more than the double. If you're just taking it for prophylaxis against osteoporosis then 1000 units should be enough. Other causes like rickets also require higher dosages. So I wouldn't be so concerned with side effects because it's very difficult to cause intoxication with this vitamin.
I hope it helps!
You can tell me the reason it was prescribed to you for a more specific answer.
