Brief answer...given below
Detailed answer..
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understood your concerns very well.
Diet control and regular exercises are a very good way to control your blood sugar levels but these measures help only up to point. After all there is a limit for a person to exercise or control his diet.
In case a person can not control his sugar levels by diet and exercises, then he has to take the help of medications also.
I know JANUVIA is expensive but you can definitely go ahead with ACTOS.
The most important side effect of ACTOS is water retention, swelling and weight gain. This side effect becomes detrimental for diabetics who already have some element of congestive heart failure or strain on heart.
If the heart of the patient is absolutely normal, then there should not be any problem in taking ACTOS.
In my opinion you can go ahead with ACTOS and get periodic review of the heart.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
