Is Bactrim The Right Medicine For Sore Throat?

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Dec 2014
Question: I have a sore throat.
Was given Bactrim.
The doctor said it was very red.
No relief.
I think I may have scorched it with overuse of a Vitamin C, hot coffee, and too spicy foods.
I have a trip to Europe in the next day.
I suggested GERD to my doctor and he said no.

What to do.
How long to get better?

Brief Answer:
consult with the doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, for sore throat, bactrim doesn't work.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed penicillin antibiotics + anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol + diclofenac combination drugs twice daily for 5 days . Betadine mouth gargling also can help you better. Avoid oily and cold items.
All these are prescription medicines, so I would advise you to consult with the doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
