Brief Answer:
Both are emperical treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

There can be various causes of eosinophilia.
The most common causes are allergic, worm infestation and filarial infection.
Your doctors have prescribed medication emperically suspecting both these conditions(allergic and filarial).

I would like to know if there is past history of repeated cough/cold and respiratory problem.
Does nebulisation helps in relieving the condition?
Is there family history of allergy (skin allergy, allergic rhinitis or asthma)?
If the answer of any of these question is yes, this goes in favour of allergic disorder.
I would like to get stool test and serum IgE level done.

If a child comes to me with symptoms of repeated cold/cough and respiratory distress and the family history is positive I prescribe Albendazole syrup ( deworming) and motelukast cetrizine combination considering it to be allergic in origin.Raised serum IgE or parasite in stool will justify the prescription.
Albendazole; because worm infestation is very common in this age and there is no side effect of Albendazole.
I would like to get repeat eosinophil count done after 10 days.If the counts remains same or have not decreased significantly I would like to add Benocide (diethylcabazine) an anti filarial assuming it to be filarial infection.
Although there are tests to confirm filarial infection like filarial antigen test but it is not very sensitive.
So better to start Benocide emperically this time.

I hope this helps.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
Regards
