Is Benadryl Safe To Give A One-year-old Child?
Question: hello. i took my 17 months old daughter to her pediatrician yesterday because she wasnt sleeping for over a week. Her doctor said that her eczema was very irritated and to give her some benadryl before bed so i went to the store to buy some benadryl and it said on the box DO NOT GIVE TO CHILDREN UNDER TWO so i didnt know what i should do seeing the box said that but her doctor said another. Would you happen to know the appropriate dosage to give to a 17 month old and if it is safe? I googled a dosage chart and it said because she was 22lbs to give her 5ml. Im just super nervous to do it and am worried if it is safe? i was also unable to call her doctor today because they were closed due to a snow storm we're having here.

ok perfect! Thank you very much. Do you happen to know if 5ml is the correct dose for her weight? The chart i found on google said 5ml but ive learned long ago to not listen to google, just dont want to give her too much. I feel much more at ease giving it to her now. Thanks again!
Brief Answer:
3-5 ml
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
For a child like her, a dose of 3 ml should be fine. However, 5 ml is ok to be given. Other than increased sleeping (acceptable) I do not expect any other complaints.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
