Brief Answer:
Hereditary relation

Detailed Answer:
Hi Patti
I am very sad to hear that your father and cousin are suffering from leukemia.
Heredity can also contribute to leukemia causes. Inherited diseases, like Fanconi anemia and ataxia telangiectasia, increase the chances of developing leukemia. These diseases have an association with an atypical number of chromosomes or defective DNA. Individuals with a family history of hematopoietic malignancies may have a somewhat increased risk for developing leukemia.
