Brief Answer:
Yes it is curable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

I would like to tell you that C pneumoniae does not cause STD it causes mild pneumonia or bronchitis in adolescents and young adults. Majority of infected persons are asymptomatic, and most have relatively mild respiratory illnesses, symptoms of bronchitis or pneumonia may follow upper respiratory tract symptoms in 1-4 weeks.Tetracyclines and macrolides are the drugs of choice for chlamydial pneumonias doxycycline is the treatment of choice. The treatment should be continued for at least 10-14 days. Most cases of infection with C pneumoniae are mild and usually respond to treatment in an outpatient setting and completely curable. So you must complete the treatment and there is no need to worry at all.

Hope I answered your query.

Thanks for the reply doctor. I have checked in Internet I found CP should be treated for years to many years. Also they are suggesting some combination antibiotics protocol. Will this is reality required? Also I have done other STD'S test including HIV after 90 days. will CP affect other test results? Could you please provide me wat i need to do further?

Brief Answer:
Dont worry take treatment as advised under doctor's guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

In rare cases only prolonged treatment is needed. You must first take the treatment as advise. Then stay in follow-up with investigations if any problem then treatment can be modified. Treatment failure in C pneumoniae pneumonia may occur more often with erythromycin, not doxycycline. Retreatment is often successful, especially with tetracyclines like doxycycline. Complete recovery is slow and cough and malaise may persist for weeks to months despite appropriate treatment.

The HIV test will not be interferred by these CP tests, other diseases or medicines. You must take HIV PCR or 4 th generation ELISA test after 12 weeks for confirmation. You need not worry just take the treatment and tests as advised. Stay in follow-up.

Take care.

doctor
Answered by Dr. Sheetal Verma (34 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Yes after 12 weeks HIV test is conclusive.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Well come back.
In outpatient settings the tablet doxycycline (100 mg twice) or tetracycline hydrochloride (500 mg PO four times a day). Treatment should be continued for at least 10-14 days. But I advise that you must take the treatment under the guidance of your doctor. Yes the PCR test and 4 th generation ELISA test are conclusive after 12 weeks. You need not worry and must lead a healthy lifestyle. Avoid having unprotected intercourse in future.

Best of health.

Thanks doctor , I never had unprotected sex with anyone. I have 2 exposure
1) One year before unprotected oral and protected sex
2) 3 months before went to massage parlour , she gave me hand job and swallowed something from her breast.

I did a lot of tests. Weeks and days calculation from my second exposure. Below are the details.
1.Hiv 1 & 2 PCR at my 35 th day
2. HIV Duo by CMIA test by 28th day, 35,47,56,70,90
3.hep b DNA detection by PCR by 47th day and normal HBsAG test at my 90th day
4.hep c RNA detection by PCR by 47th day and HCV antibodies at my 90th day
5. All other remaining test herpes VDRL claymadiya test done by 90th day

1) My question is , am i out of all the std's ? or still i need to take some more tests?

2) I have posted your answer Chlamydophila pneumoniae forum , they replied with below (http://www.cpnhelp.org/chlamydia_pneumoniae_1)

"Your doctor is incorrect. He / she is giving you old information and is telling you half the story.

We have already discussed the fact that cpni is not an stdi. On that issue, your doctor is right. Cpn IS the cause of lung infectionsi.

But cpn has been implicated in many purported 'auto-immunei' diseasesi, like Multiple Sclerosisi, rosaceai, arthritis, chronic fatigue, etc. Once the disease is chronic, it is very difficult to eradicate because it goes into hiding INSIDE the cells.

If you choose to follow your doctor's instructions, please keep our website information, so you can find us later on, when you need our information to truly recover. "

Now , i am worrying , becuase of CP , my other HIV , HEP results came back with false negative? or i am clear?

Then CP will not cure if we have 2 weeks antibiotics?

Please help me out. Am i need to take another round of testing for all STD's?

Answered by Dr. Sheetal Verma (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No further tests required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Well come back.

1. Yes you have taken all investigations correctly and no threat of STD in your case. No need to take further tests.
2. No chlamydophila pneumoniae does not interfere with results of other STDs including HIV. No false negative results. So relax. You don't have STDs.
3. Treatment must be continued for at least 10-14 days after defervescence. If symptoms persist, a second course with a different class of antibiotics is usually effective. After this your CP will cure.
4. No you need no further tests.

Best of health.

Thanks doctor , if this will be get cured in 2 weeks , people here is not agreeing , They are mainly deal with Cp, Below the reply from another member

The vast majority of doctors haven't the foggiest of ideas about how to treat Chlamydia pneumoniae. This website's sole purpose is devoted to that cause. Believe me: we know. We know that if you take antibiotics for two weeks against CPni, it'd be like tickling them with a feather duster. CPn is very difficult to eradicate and, where chronic, will take years. We are perhaps luckier than those folk afflicted with Lyme disease; they may have 5 different infectionsi which they may never clear.

You pose the question of how you will know you are well. Many of us folk here are so ill that walking a few hundred yards (or even walking at all) is a thing of dreams. We'd know when we were cured. I suggest to you that you do not let CPn take hold of you in that way and don't allow yourself to become that ill.

If this is really takes more than a year to clear? i am worrying , planning to call off my marriage.

Brief Answer:
Take treatment as advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I am really so sorry to see the poor scenario of chronic chlamydia infection in your area. I really hope things would improve with time. I urge you to take treatment and must get retested approximately 3 months after treatment. If facilities are available in your country you can get culture done with antibiotic susceptibility tests for minimum inhibitory concentration. By this you can take the best antibiotics for your infection. But this depends upon the facilities available in your region.Antibiotic treatment must be taken exactly as directed which normally cures chlamydia infections. If antibiotics are not taken properly, the infection will not be cured.

Take care

Brief Answer:
You need to take the treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I went through your query.

You have got nucleic acid amplification tests PCR done to find DNA of chlamydia bacteria. These tests are highly sensitive and conclusive. A test that is positive almost always means the problem is there and is unlikely to be a false-positive test result. It is possible that PCR in urine is positive without the ELISA which detects antibodies IgG. In your case you have to rely upon the PCR report and start the treatment of Chlamydia trachomatis from your physician.Treatment options for uncomplicated urogenital infections include a single 1 g dose of azithromycin orally, or doxycycline at a dosage of 100 mg orally twice per day for seven days.

Take care

Thanks for the response. Why i am askin , my Igg antibodies test came back with negative for CT , But CP i have positive for IGG antibodies . I am thinking in that scenario , they have tested for Detection of Chlamydia DNA , is there a reason whether they have detected CP and wrongly said CT in my report? or i have both CP and CT all together? Here only i am confusing. also these bacteria will not affect my other test results right?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sheetal Verma (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Trust PCR results or repeat it any doubts.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I would like to tell you that in your case the treatment must be based on the reports of PCR. I would like to tell you that it has been observed that crossreactivity can also occur which sometimes give false positive results in ELISA. PCR is more sensitive test. It is unlikely to suffer both diseases together. IgG can be positive if a person had infection in past so it is better to get IgM tests done by ELISA to clear the doubts. Well I suggest you that you must trust PCR report and start treatment.
