Is Claribid Tablet Advisable During Pregnancy?
Question: Hi
My wife is 32 weeks pregnant and today her doctor prescribed her claribid 250mg tablet. Because she was suffering from throatache leg cramps.
My wife history is she earlier had a c section in XXXXXXX 16.
I jus wanted to know the use of calribid 250 tablet in pregnancy.
When i asked my doctor she said it is useful in cesarian patients

Claribid is an antibiotic which is pregnancy category C drug. This drug should not be used during pregnancy unless there are no alternatives and the benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus; use is not recommended unless clearly needed.
it is not routinely used during pregnancy. She can take safer antibiotics for throat infection like Cefixime. The leg cramps will improve with increased fluid intake and electrolyte rich fluids.
