Is Clindamycin Effective At Treating Oral Thrush?
Question: on 29 march Tonsillectomy,UPPP, partiall Midline,uvular flap surgery was done, Started Amoxicillin, mouth rinse, after 3-4 days severe oral thrush developed, under emergency they started Clindamycin 300mg every 6 hours, Nystatin 6 hours., today surgeon who have surgery mentioned with clindmysin - side effects are possible. worried - what can I do ?
should I stop clindamycin . How many days - the full recovery will take? Does Obstructive sleep apnea - get some cure ?
Surgeon also send tonsills for pathology- what this test will tell-, does any reason for cancer?

You should not stop or change antibiotic abruptly. Get a throat swab for culture sensitivity done.
Histopathological evaluation of the tonsil tissue is to confirm the infective pathology only.
The surgeries you have undergone are meant for obstructive sleep apnea treatment. There is edema of the tissues post surgery and it may take up to 4 to 6 weeks for complete relief.
