Is Cymbalta The Same As Duloxetine?
Question: Are Cymbalta and Duloxetine the same? My wife feels Cymbalta is superior to duloxetine after using both.
She is on 30Mg and 60mg tablets - one each, daily
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
both same, quality may differ as duloxetine is generic
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Cymbalta is research product while duloxetine is generic content. Both are chemically same. It may be possible that cymbalta may have better quality than generic duloxetine and that is why your wife is feeling that cymbalta is superior.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Because of the cost difference (substantial) between Cymbalta and duloxetine, I am trying to get a medical opinion that would support that a generic should be comparable because the active ingredients are the same and only the color of filler and shape of pill are different from Cymbalta.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Brief Answer:
yes cost matters
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow up.
Yes you are right in many patients cost matters. In that case with generic patient needs some what higher dose than that of research product to get optimum effect and even after cost is less than that of research product.
So for you if cost matters, she may need somewhat higher dose of duloxetine than that of cymbalta.
If still any query there, I will be happy to answer if not, you can close the discussion and if feasible give your feedback and rating so I can improve my service.
