Is Cystone Effective For Treatment Of Kidney Stone?
USG to my kidney got the following result :
Both Kidneys are normal in size, shape margin and axis
Cortico-Medullary differentiation is normal
A small calculus of size 3.8 mm seen in mid calyx of right kidney
Right kidney : 9.02 CM
left kidney : 9.63 cm
I checked with my family general physician and he advised to take cystone (himalaya product) 1 tab 3 times for 2 months. I need you to check and recommend if this is not sufficient
Cystone is a first step, may or may not work.

Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. Isee from the Ultrasound report that you have typed in that you have a kidney stone in R mid Calyx of the kidney. that is the center of the urine collecting system in the kidney.
In this place, it very unlikely that the stone would cause any blockage immediately. So NO emergency to worry about. Now.. the question is.. how to deal with the stone in a safe way that will either allow the stone to be expelled while it is very small or to make it dissolve where it is now. That's why the Doctor gave you Cystone
, it alkalizes the urine and that should hopefully prevent the stone from growing while increasing the flow of urine in your kidney. So in a few months.. the stone may have disappeared all together.
If the treatment fails.. then you can look to having the stone removed by other methods.. like lithotripsy or cystocopy, etc..
But this cystone is a good first step. Drink plenty of plain water and lets hope the cystone does the job.
Vinay
Could you suggest me to take any other medicines with Cystone or only drinking water will help me out ?
How much water should i take ? any chance to worry about i am newly married just one month back that`s why bit concerned.
Cystone is a brand name, the mixture is proprietary
Detailed Answer:
Hi, Cystone is actually a mixture of different chemicals. I don't know of any other brands. You can ask the pharmacist.
I can tell you the foods that need to be avoided, so that the stone will not be encouraged to grow.
Reducing the amount of animal protein may help. Sources of animal protein include beef, chicken, pork, fish and eggs. Most people need only four to six ounces of high protein foods and three servings of milk or cheese a day. Check with your doctor or dietitian to be sure your protein intake is enough, but not too much.
Chronic kidney stones are often treated with potassium citrate. Studies have shown that limeade, lemonade and other fruits and juices high in natural citrate may offer similar stone-preventing benefits. It is believed that citrate in the urine may prevent the calcium from binding with other constituents that lead to stones. Also, some evidence suggests that citrate may prevent crystals that are already present from binding with each other, thus preventing them from getting bigger. Please note that juices made from actual limes and lemons contain higher levels of citrate and beware of the sugar content in juices, because this can increase kidney stone risk.
Hope this helps.
