Is Dilaudid Contraindicated Post Kidney Surgery?

Question: I was taught that dilaudid is contradicted following kidney surgery due to kidney ca. True?
Brief Answer:
it is eliminated via the kidneys
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is eliminated using the kidneys, most of it changed, only a very small amount is unchanged.
There are some medications that are eliminated using the liver mainly or others which rely equally on both organs
Because this medications needs functioning kidneys to be eliminated, if the kidneys are not working well then the medication builds up in the body leading to side effects and problems.
This is the reason that it cannot be used after kidney surgery or avoided in persons with significant kidney impairment.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
