Is Estradiol Application Effective After A Supra Cervical Hysterectomy?

Question: I have a prescription for estradiol (E2) to be applied 2 x per week vaginally. A few years ago I had a dvt in my calf and was treated with shots etc for months after the clot. Is the estradiol the best thing to do after having a supra cervical hysterectomy with A and P repairs and a Y mesh suspension surgery? I am 56. Are there alternatives? What would be stronger, or weaker than what I have been prescribed for HRT?
I forgot to mention that I have high blood pressure and am taking amlodopine and losartin for it. The original blood clot could have been caused by a nuvoring used briefly in 2009, and my heavy travel schedule, flying out of town. I am in hyster sisters and thought this service was part of being registered on that website.

Hello XXXX
I can understand your concerns, although you ahve given a very good history, I need some more information so that I can guide you further:
1)What complaints do you have? why doctor has prescribed you estrogen cream?
2)Along with the uterus, whether ovaries have also been removed?
3)Do you take calcium supplementation?
4)Are you sexually active? (treatment can vary accordingly).
5)Still are you on anticoagulant treatment?
Please ask if you have more questions, and do write back with the answers so that I can guide you further.
Awaiting your response.

Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for answering my question. I still have my ovaries and I am sexually active. I only used anticoagulants for the year after the DVT (2009 - mid 2010). Daily calcium supplements were prescribed by my gynecologist in 2011 approx, but I have not followed through with taking them. Instead I have a diet which includes calcium. I will pay attention to what you say about this and will take them if you suggest that I do. Estrogen cream was prescribed to protect my vaginal tissues, which the doctor said are thin and fragile especially after a hysterectomy, as the uterus was there to provide moisture, and the circulation may not be what it was (if I remember correctly). I only just had the surgery via da vinci robot, and the A & P repairs vaginally, on January 28th. So I am 7 weeks out.
Regards, XXXX
Brief Answer:
IT is safe to use low dose cream for short period.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for the reply...
Coming back to your question, as you are having your ovaries intact, that means there is enough estrogen to prevent you from developing hot flushes and also for protecting your heart and bones. Estrogen creams are safe in post-menopausal women even with high risk factors, as the dose of estrogen is very low to get into the blood streams. So you can safely continue estrogen cream, but kindly remember to use it for very SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WITH VERY LOW DOSE OF ESTROGEN. All the best.. Regular exercise, healthy diet which is rich in soya, omega 3 fatty acids and stress free life should be the main objectives during post-menopausal period to prevent any post-menopausal symptoms...
Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!
