Is Fenistil An Effective Medication For A Frequent Cough At Night?

Question: Hello, my dad in XXXXXXX has been having these cough bouts especially while he is sleeping. These bouts come once every night . More of an allergic kind but it's been 2 months and it doesn't seem to disappear. While he is awake during the day , it doesn't bother him so much. More do when lying down. Should he take fenistil anti allergic? For info he is 79 years of age , with hypertension n diabetes but overall pretty fit. Just retired a year ago.

It is antihistamine drug used for allergic cough.

So he can definitely take this tablet.

But if his cough is not improving even after starting Fenistil then better to consult cardiologist and get done 2d echo to rule out early heart failure because this can also cause coughing at night only.

Hello doctor, I gathered somemore info on my dads confition: Dry cgh strtd 2 months ago. Tingling in right or lft throat provokes it. No mucous. Curnt medcn # Januvia100(am)/gemer 2p(am&pm)/natrilix sr(am)/telma40(pm) .Bp 145/80 BS within 250/ No heart ailments detected so far. Happens as a single bout around 1am when he needs to go to the washroom. Not much during the day. Thanks XXXXXXX
