Is GFR Of 39 To 57 Ml Of Normal Range?
4 month ago her KFT was 39 gll or ml and last month result was 57 gll or ml (I don't have test paper front of me hence I am not sure whether it is gll or ml)
Dr suggested continue to take Nodosys tablet used to control kindny infection
My question is how to read the above result from 39 ml to 57 ml, Is this kind of improvement
Is this kind of infection is normal thing
what test are you talking about exactly
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for your question.
It depends upon what kidney function test you are talking about. A common one is BUN (blood urea nitrogen). Normal BUN is 7-20 mg/dl. If it is BUN you are talking about then going from 39 to 57 is a worsening of kidney function.
Another commonly measured kidney function test is GFR (glomerular filtration rate). Normal for that is 90 to 120 ml/min/1.73m2. If it is GFR you are talking about then increasing form 39 to 57 would be a good increase in kidney function.
Please let me know what test you are speaking of.
Kidney or urinary tract infections are common in women and especially in diabetics.
Please send me more information or ask me more questions if you have them.

Dr. Robinson
