Brief Answer:
ELIISA in XXXXXXX detects all subtypes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
Yes HIV ELISA in XXXXXXX tests for both subtypes of HIV 1 and 2.
They are sometimes referred to as subtypes A and B.
HIV types B and C is a subtype of HIV 1 virus.
The test is enough conclusive after 1 year.
For further confirmation, you can go for The Multispot HIV-1/HIV-2 Rapid Test, currently the only FDA approved method for such differentiation between the two viruses.

Thank you.

What is sometimes referred as subtypes A and B ? I thought subtypes A and B are subtypes of Type HIV1 ? please advise
You mentioned for confirmation you can go for The Multispot HIV-1/HIV-2 Rapid Test. Why do I need to go for it if the ELISA test is conclusive ?

Brief Answer:
Relevant classification provided.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I understand your concern.
HIV is basically of two types HIV 1 and 2.
HIV 1 is divided into major type M and minor types(N, O ,P).
HIV 1 M type is subdivided into A-K types.
ELISA in XXXXXXX detects both HIV 1(all major M subtypes that a-k) and HIV 2 virus antibodies.
Whereas MULTISPOT can also detect the minor subtypes(n,o,p) of type 1 virus. But this detection is not of much significance.
But in lay terms, many lab services refer to type 1 and 2 viruses as A and B, which is scientifically not correct in terms of classification.
Hence to conclude, you can rest assure on your ELISA HIV results after 1 year obtained in XXXXXXX
These days many 4th GEN ELISA tests in XXXXXXX are incorporating the multispot test properties to detect all subtypes.Hence, you need not worry.
