Is HIV Transmission Possible Through Unprotected Anal Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: I had unprotected anal sex with a man on Wednesday night. He said he was std free. I've never been tested but I've never had any signs of an std or HIV. On Friday I started feeling sick with a sore throat and congestion. Today I had diarrhea in the morning and early afternoon. My throat and congestion stayed the same. I have felt tired all day and kind of weak and tingley in my legs and arms. I have had some headaches but they're not painful. The last time I had sex was about 2 months ago or maybe longer. I know these are flu like symptoms and signs of HIV but not sure if I just have a cold or maybe something more serious?

Brief Answer:
The risk is very unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

The risk of getting HIV or other STDs from single exposure is very unlikely. Sore throat, fatigue and other symptoms might be due to seasonal change or other viral infection but not related to HIV.

Allay the fear or anxiety related to HIV. You can go for HIV testing after 3 months to confirm your HIV status and it will also clear all your doubts. For any further query get back to me again any time.

Thank You

Thank you. The underside base of my shaft was cut wedneaday morning due to shaving but it was washed and cleaned twice before i had sex that night. I washed it with hand sanitizer after i had sex and i did burn breafily but was all healed up the next morning. Could that be the reason why im sick or still very unlikely its HIV related?

Brief Answer:
Still the risk is very less.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

The risk with the exposure you had mentioned also very less as the status of your partner is unknown so don't get worried or tensed and get tested after 3 month to get 100% conclusive and reliable result.

Thank You
